Eating Disorders

A healthy relationship with food is one where you only eat when hungry and stop when full. Not for emotional reasons, such as stress, comfort, worry, fear etc. Only eating to nourish and give your body energy.

There Are Several Eating Disorders:

BULLIMIA Eating followed by guilt, fear of getting fat and followed by corrective mechanisms –such as vomiting the food back up, eliminating it with laxatives or exercising it off or combination of all three.

ANOREXIA – Fear of gaining weight, fear of eating, fear of food, always wanting to eat less. Always wanting to be very thin ideally – which is often obtainable and not conducive to good health.

ORTHOREXIA – obstensibly “healthy” eating taken to extremes, eg eating only organic food, eliminating all wheat, dairy, gluten, sugar foods etc. associated with guilt feeling or shame and fear when some less healthy food is eaten. Often  ?    from periods to periods of re-stocking a longer term version of binging and purging

Night Eating Syndrome

Eating hardly anything all day followed by large amounts of food overeating at night or in the evening often associated with feeling of relaxation or de-stressing at end of day

Food Obsession – Spells of only eating one thing, eg boiled new potatoes, mashed or jacket would be rejected or cheese.
